Broadsword's Birthday

Posted by  Anna Green on August 1, 2019

Today is Broadsword’s birthday!

Our fantastic Event Production Agency was incorporated on 1st August, 2006, by Founder, Bruce Teggart which makes us an incredible 13 years old. Was the name ‘Broadsword’ chosen as a reference to the film ‘Where Eagles Dare’ or a discussion in the pub about medieval weaponry? As Trebuchet was also considered then that might be a give-away!

Posted by  Anna Green on July 5, 2019

As Stephen Covey said, “Strength lies in differences, not similarities.”

Embracing diversity is a critical step for business to grow and as a company in the communications business working with global organisations, we feel we have a real opportunity to support and advise our clients in how to cultivate diverse event environments.

Why is it so important?

Global Events Services

Posted by  Anna Green on June 25, 2019

We spoke to Senior Production Manager Liam to find out his take on events around the globe, how they are different to delivering events in the UK, his favourite Broadsword international event, the challenges he has faced while being abroad and the 5 items he wouldn't be without.

What do you like about delivering international events?

I love the occasional opportunity to explore a new city.  Working in events has taken me to four continents, and countless cities I would never have had chance to visit.  If I get the chance I love to wander around absorbing the sights, sounds and smells.  A particular highlight was a 48 break between landing and starting work in Bangkok last year, which meant I could see a cousin who lives there, explore the city, and go to a gig.

Public Speaking in Madrid – Some Useful Tips

Posted by  Anna Green on June 18, 2019

It’s never too late to try something new.

When asked to attend the second C&IT International Forum as a speaker, I was a little apprehensive. These were unchartered waters for me; I love conversation of course, but the responsibility to add value and contribute meaningful content, was rather daunting. Let’s face it: most of us experience public speaking butterflies, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. A little nervousness raises our level of performance but it’s important that the balance doesn’t tip from nerves to anxiety.

Expanding our horizons

Posted by  Anna Green on March 26, 2019

We wanted to drop you an update as 2019 has certainly started with high profile happenings and a series of flagship events.

We were proud to work alongside two new clients. Kimberly-Clark invited 400 sales colleagues to London for three days. We worked with TW Creative and transformed the conference space at Twickenham Stadium with a main plenary room and interactive product stands in the breakout space. The second, a financial company based in London, took over the Langham Hotel for two days. We created a main space (with 19m wide x 4m high LED wall!) and 18 concurrent breakout rooms, as well as rebranding much of the hotel and providing wayfinding to four floors. We additionally managed and produced content for an interactive event app, which linked into our badging solution.

Posted by  Anna Green on February 21, 2019

There are many unique skills and talents under the Event House roof. Broadsword are very proud of their people and the #OneTeam approach.

In a bid to shift things into more of an ‘open plan’ format, team members John Telfer and Simon Baines are taking on new Producer roles within our Event Team, and trailblazing a different approach to Broadsword’s project management. They will be responsible for taking events from initial brief through to delivery, sitting at the heart of a project and pulling together all the necessary resources to produce a brilliant show.

Here’s their take on their next step.
